ISBA was founded in 1996 by James Mitchell, on the pristine Gulf Island, Gabriola.
ISBA teaches Timber Frame, Log Building and Fireplace/Stonework; Design, Construction and Finishing skills.
ISBA is the only trade school in BC, Canada specializing in teaching both Log & Timber Frame Construction skills for the Owner/Builder and Industry Pre Employment.
We offer Programs, Courses and Skills that cater to a multimillion dollar and growing, Log Building, Timber Frame, and Stone Masonry Industry.
ISBA supplies all the hand and power tools for out log and timber courses. Our authored Instructors teach the most up-to-date methods of wood and stone joinery, with an organic approach to design.
Although most people choose to take the full three-month log and timber building programs, one can also choose just one or two courses to suit their particular need in any of the four disciplines we offer.
Our goal is to provide fertile ground for the varied tastes and aspirations of our students and we promise to deliver the best, most efficient methods of joining Logs and Timbers together that there is on the face of this world…now that’s impressive!
