Tools
You must have a pair of steel-toed shoes and safety glasses. Also, bring some old clothes to work in.
The following tools should be available at most hardware stores:
- tool bucket
- 25' tape measure
- journal
- pencils
- string line
- 2 or 3 pound sledge or mash hammer
- pointed steel chisel
- 4" bolster (brick) chisel
- brick or bucket trowel
- margin or pointing trowel
- tuck pointer or slicker 1/4" or 1/2" width
- level
- 2" margin trowel
- brick jointer
The carbide tools below are available from Trow and Holden (www.trowandholden.com) or Micon Industries on Granville Island. The school gets a small discount for larger orders, so please contact us if you¹d like to purchase these tools.
- 1 1/2" carbide-tipped pitching tool
- 1 1/2" carbide-tipped tracer chisel
- carbide-tipped brick hammer
- 2 or 3 lb round hammer with fiberglass handle
Micon Products (http://miconproducts.com/) on Granville Island also carries the carbide-tipped tools, but not the round hammers with fiberglass handles.
The full set of tools should cost about $500.
